From Heads Down
to Heads Up
AI can fundamentally change how work gets done - if you know how to use it.
Teams are buried in repetitive, manual work. Leaders want to set direction, but get mired in process. Everyone struggles to focus on the things that matter most.
Keel3 helps organizations move from heads-down effort to heads-up thinking by embedding AI into real workflows, safely and deliberately.

The problem is not effort.
It's where the effort goes.

Heads Down
- Repetitive tasks
- Manual coordination
- Low-impact work
Energy is high. Progress is limited.

Heads Up
- Analysis & judgment
- Creativity & innovation
- Strategic decision-making
This is the shift Keel3 helps organizations make.
Educate. Prioritize.
Prototype. Embed.
Educate
We help employees understand how they can safely use AI today, in their actual roles, starting at their own desks.
Prioritize
We identify which AI uses eliminate the most busywork and deliver the greatest return.
Prototype
We partner with your teams to build and test real solutions in a safe environment without disrupting production systems.
Embed
We make change management part of the work. Full adoption is our deliverable.
From curiosity to capability
Just Getting Caught Up
Your teams are working hard, but you've got a feeling that much of that effort is spent on tasks AI can already assist with.
Experimenting Safely
You want room to explore company-specific use cases without exposing customer data, or creating risk or shadow IT.
Ready to Go All In
You want to set a company strategy that uses AI to support better decisions, better workflows, and long-term advantage.
Less noise. More progress.
Keel3 brings together senior software engineers, communications professionals, and industry operators with experience across healthcare, finance, and government.
We work closely with leaders, teams, and IT partners to remove low-value work and create space for higher-value thinking.
We're a nimble start-up; not a gargantuan bureaucratic consulting firm. That means we give you more attention, and charge you less.
We're neighbors helping neighbors - not outsiders with egos and price tags.

Patrick Callahan
Founder
Patrick has spent most of his career helping organizations understand what becomes possible when technology and people work together. He co-founded The Archer Group in 2006, which was acquired in 2014, where the focus was on helping companies rethink digital marketing. He later founded CompassRed, acquired in 2022, to help organizations use data to make better decisions.
Today, his work centers on AI and design, with an emphasis on building tools that are genuinely useful, not just technically impressive. This phase of his career is deliberately quieter. More listening, more experimentation, fewer announcements. The focus is on responsible momentum, not movement for its own sake.
Focus areas:
- • Human-centered AI and design systems
- • Responsible innovation and governance
- • Digital strategy for data-driven organizations
- • Connecting policy, science, and technology

The Tools Are Fine. The Organization Isn’t.
AI tools can make work faster, but they do not automatically make a company smarter. This article explains why many AI initiatives stop at pilots, licenses, and small productivity gains, while the real value comes from redesigning work, capturing institutional knowledge, and clarifying who owns decisions. The companies that pull ahead will be the ones willing to change the organization, not just adopt the technology.
Former EY-Parthenon Leader Allan Kyle Joins Keel3
Allan Kyle spent three decades in it before AI became a buzzword. He studied neural networks in the 1990s, helped build machine learning tools for banking risk, and most recently advised private equity firms at EY-Parthenon on technology strategy for acquisitions. Now he's joining Keel3 to put that experience to work for mid-market companies ready to move from AI experimentation to measurable results.
TOKENOMICS: You don't have a token problem. You have a staffing problem.
Companies are watching their AI bills climb and reaching for the wrong fix. The answer is not less AI or a cheaper model. It is the same thing every agency that survives eventually figures out about people.

Signals Shaping AI: Advice for CEOs in 2026
Having lived through both the dot-com boom and the past three years of AI transformation, I've developed a healthy skepticism for binary predictions. Remember when ecommerce was going to eliminate every physical storefront? Today's claims that AI will completely replace human workers sound just as hyperbolic and just as likely to miss the nuanced reality.

The Keel
What keeps you steady and moving forward
In sailing, the keel is the structural element that provides stability and enables forward motion - even in changing conditions.
